C.Krishnaswamy was born in chinnasalem, India in 1973. Krishnaswamy art works are essentially in the medium of paintings by the way of performance, sculpture, video installation, digital prints & photography.  He had completed his bachelors in Fine Art from Govt. College of Arts & Crafts , Chennai in 1996. he first appeared on the scene as a professional artist with his solo show titled Spontaneity in 2000, this body of work was an engagement with the abstract, was inspired by the nostalgic memory of childhood. 

 

Krishnaswamy then went on to pursue a Masters in Fine Art from same college in 2003 and completed in 2005, during this time he was started next series called Kundalini Rising in 2003 by used his knowledge of yoga and his intent to create something new and came up with the works. This projects his body on to the canvas by performing Yogasana on wet paint.

 

Furthered his process of self discovery by realizing that the single largest source of inspiration was the lasting bond with his native experience and these were what engaged him the most. For almost two years he went on a documentation drive of all the activities, places, thins and practices surrounding his home and ancestral roots. This time was spent making videos, photographs and translating into art work. This process resulted in three bodies of work: Internal Medium External Medium, Hidden Meaning and Disguised Form’.

 

By this time krishnswamy had built up a large body of work, each with its own narrative and thought process. Expanding his scale of the metaphorical canvas. He felt the need to move beyond the confines of a defined space to the vast openness of the entire environment itself. This is when he came to collaborative with photographer Yuvaraj Vivek in an epic series of photoshoots, performances, the series is called Contradicting Equilibrium of the Existing Senses’.

 

He lives and works in chennai.
